About Meredith

Meredith Doench is the author of the Luce Hansen Sapphic Thriller Series from Bold Strokes Books. Crossed, the first in the series, was the runner-up for the 2015 IndieFab Awards in the Mystery Genre. Crossed was also awarded the Nancy Dasher Award in 2017 from the College English Association of Ohio. The second novel in the Luce Hansen Series, Forsaken Trust, was published in May of 2017 followed by Deadeye in July of 2019. Forsaken Trust and Deadeye were mystery/thriller Goldie Award finalists in their respective years from Golden Crown Literary Society. Doench is also the author of two stand alone sapphic thrillers, Whereabouts Unknown and Never Say Die.

Doench’s short fiction and nonfiction has appeared in literary journals such as Hayden’s Ferry Review, Women’s Studies Quarterly, GertrudeTahoma Literary Review, and many more. Her short essay, “South Carolina, 2012,” was nominated for the 2020 Pushcart Award by Tahoma Literary Review.  Doench was one of the founding associate prose editors of the literary journal, Camera Obscura: Journal of Literature and Photography.  She is a member of Golden Crown Literary Society, Sisters in Crime, and Mystery Writers of America where she also serves as a board member of Mystery Writers of America Midwest Region

Doench holds a BS in Special Education from Ball State University, an MA in English from the University of Dayton, and a PhD from Texas Tech University in English/Creative Writing.

Doench lives in Dayton, Ohio where she teaches creative writing and literature at the University of Dayton.

Meredith Doench is the author of the Luce Hansen sapphic thriller series and the stand-alone, Whereabouts Unknown. Her latest novel, Never Say Die, releases in March 2026. Meredith is an avid armchair detective and amateur web sleuth who loves all things mystery. She’s also a board member of Mystery Writers of America, Midwest Chapter and a principal lecturer of creative writing and literature at the University of Dayton in Ohio.
